              1. What is the cost of a room and meal plan at Parkside?

              2. When can I move in?

              At Parkside, tentative move-in dates will start on Friday September 1, 2023. You will receive more information about specific move-in dates upon receiving a residence offer. Residence staff will be available to help you and answer questions on your move-in day. More information about move-in will be provided after students have completed their application and occupancy agreement.

              3. Can I move into my residence early?

              The Parkside residence is not available earlier than September 1. If you need to move in earlier, you will need to make separate arrangements for accommodation before the move-in date and cover the costs yourself. You can consult Housing Services’ list of nearby hotels and hostels for options.

              4. Can my family members stay in my residence to assist me in settling in?

              Family members cannot stay in your room/suite, but they can arrange to stay in nearby accommodations.

              5. Can I stay in the residence over the winter break?

              Yes, students staying at Parkside can stay in their room over the winter break period (December 21, 2023, to January 1, 2024) at no additional cost. Students may be required to follow a separate process to be added to the residence’s winter break stayover list.

              6. How do I pay my residence fees?

              Residence fees will be billed on your student account invoice in ACORN. You can find instructions on how to make a fee payment on the Student Accounts website.

              No payments are to be made to Parkside directly.

              7.How many students will be staying in Parkside?

              We expect over 200 U of T students will stay in the University’s additional student residence accommodation at Parkside.

              8. Will there be live-in residence staff and what do they do?

              Yes, Parkside has a full team of residence life staff who live on site to provide support and programming for students. Residence staff provide residents with a safe, vibrant, and cooperative community that is conducive to academic success and personal development. These staff members help to build a sense of community between students, host social events and plan outings.

              9. What about food? Where will I be eating during my stay at Parkside?

              Parkside has a mandatory meal plan that is included in your occupancy fees. There are also common kitchens available in the residence. More information about the Parkside residence meal plan is available at https://www.dineoncampus.ca/parkside.

              10. Will students be staying in same-gender or all-gender floors?

              Students staying in suite-style accommodations at Parkside will stay in either (i) a limited number of double-occupancy rooms with ensuite washroom or (ii) in single rooms within a 2-bedroom suite with ensuite washroom (but no kitchen). In either case, you can choose either a same-gender or all-gender room/suite. All floors are gender inclusive.

              11. Is there wireless internet (Wi-Fi) at Parkside?

              Yes, Parkside has wireless internet (Wi-Fi) access, and you can connect to this when you move in

              12. How will I get to campus?

              There are many options to get from your residence to where you need to be on the downtown campus – by walking, transit, or bike.

              Parkside Student Residence is located on College St close to College TTC subway station and the 24-hour College streetcar. A Bike Share station is also available nearby on Jarvis and Carlton St.

              13. Will I have a single or double room?

              You will have the opportunity to rank your preferences on the application, but building and room type preferences cannot be guaranteed. If you require residence accommodations to address a disability-related need, you should register with Accessibility Services as soon as possible and contact additional.residences@utoronto.ca.

              Students living at Parkside Student Residence will be placed in either a limited number of double-occupancy rooms or in a single-occupancy bedroom within a 2-bedroom suite with shared ensuite washroom but no kitchen.

              14. What size are the beds?

              At Parkside, students in double-occupancy rooms will each have a double-sized (full) bed. Students with a single room in a 2-bedroom suite will each have a single-sized (twin) bed.

              15. Can I have a mini fridge and/or microwave in my room?

              At Parkside, mini fridges and microwaves are allowed in suites without kitchens.

              16. Are there any study facilities at Parkside?

              At Parkside, study lounges and quiet study rooms are available throughout the buildings.

              17. Will I have access to a fitness centres at Parkside?

              At Parkside, students will have access to fitness centres inside the building.

              Students will also have access to pools and fitness areas on-campus at Hart House, the Athletic Centre, and the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

              18. Will my room be cleaned by residence staff?

              At Parkside, students are responsible for cleaning and keeping their assigned unit and all furnishings in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition.

              19. Are laundry machines available at Parkside?

              Parkside features card-operated laundry facilities.

              20. What if I am having difficulties with my suitemates or roommate?

              If you are experiencing difficulties in your relationship with your roommate, you should approach your Community Assistant (CA) as soon as possible. They can assist you in identifying communication strategies or, if necessary, they may intervene if you and your roommate are unable to resolve the situation on your own. CAs are trained to help residents manage roommate conflicts.

              21. When will I know who my roommate or suitemates are?

              If your roommate or suitemates have allowed us to share their information with you, we will send along their contact information to you as soon as possible.

              22. What should I bring or not bring?

              Pets are not allowed in the residence. Students living in residence who will be accompanied by a service animal should contact additional.residences@utoronto.ca prior to moving in. To help with this process, it is also recommended that students register their service animal with the University.

              23. What security is there at Parkside?

              Security is a priority at Parkside. Parkside’s front desk is staffed 24/hr day, and on-site security is available 24/7 to perform regular patrols and support students and the Residence Life team. The Residence Life teams live on-site and are available to support students and any emergency issues that may arise and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number. U of T Campus Safety will also attend if necessary. There are also numerous security cameras on property both inside and outside the building.

              24. Do I have to walk alone at night on campus?

              The University of Toronto TravelSafer Program provides safe escorts to and from any building on the St. George Campus, including CParkside and nearby transit stations/stops. TravelSafer is available 7 days a week, 365 days a year from dusk till dawn. Call 416-978-SAFE (7233) any time to arrange for patrollers to come to your location during service hours. It is also possible to arrange for regular walks with the same pick-up location and time each week.

              25. What occupancy period will my residence offer be for?

              At Parkside, you have the option to reserve a residence space for the 8-month academic year (i.e., September to April) or for the summer period as well (i.e., 12-months, September – August). You can decide which occupancy period you prefer when you accept the Parkside residence offer. Specific move-in and move-out dates will be provided to you upon receiving a residence offer.
